Monaco Announces New Initiatives to Reach 2050 Carbon Neutral Goal

Organized virtually by the United Kingdom, France and the United Nations General Secretariat, but also supported by Chile and Italy, this Summit enabled more than seventy Heads of State and Government to express their national commitments in the fight against climate change. It is in this context and in front of the international community that Prince Albert II unveiled his objectives for the years to come. Objective: Carbon neutral principality In addition to his plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within ten years, the Prince expressed another ambition: to make Monaco a carbon neutral country by 2050. There is also a assurance of solidarity towards developing countries: "I have decided that the climate funding allocated by my country should increase steadily over the coming years" declared the Sovereign. In addition to the actions carried out in Monaco, such as the establishment of the “Mediterranean Sustainable Buildings (BD2M)” label in 2018, there is no doubt that changes are to be expected.

rediscovering a new golden age......

In front of the Hermitage hotel, legs smeared with color are struggling in a pot. This work by Robert Combas will be on sale by Artcurial on July 22 as part of the Monaco Sculptures operation. A few meters away, on the Place du Casino, the Swiss gallery Hauser & Wirth has just opened its Monegasque branch in the impressive basement, furnished in a brutalist style, of a brand new building.

A little further on, regulars at the Cipriani restaurant will be able, between two strokes of the fork, to buy works by Christo and Giacometti as well as some jewelry put on sale by Christie's until July 18. Its rival Sotheby's is not left out: all summer, Patrick Drahi's auction house offers around thirty works estimated between 50,000 and 6 million euros in an ephemeral gallery, as well as vintage luxury accessories. In front of the Hermitage hotel, legs smeared with color are struggling in a pot. "Monaco is living a new golden age", wants to believe Nancy Dotta, responsible on the spot of Christie's who had not seen for a long time such great maneuvers in the Principality."  People's perception is changing,” says gallery owner Iwan Wirth. For this powerful Swiss merchant, there is no doubt: “If the artistic caliber remains high, Monaco's place in the international artistic scene is guaranteed."

We are also aware of Monaco's efforts and goals to create a more sustainable city in the coming decade. This type of crossover between luxury and sustainability will surely place Monaco even heavier within the realm of wealth.
