Eco-Friendly Hotels - Closest To Nature

In recent years the trend of ecological hotels is gaining momentum all over the world. But it is not enough to institute a towel-saving policy to be considered an ecological hotel. Real green hotels usually operate on green principles such as energy saving and alternative energy use, water saving and recycled water use, use of green building methods and construction from natural materials, increasing the hotel's consumption in an organic garden and often contributing to the nearby community. Green hotels can also be found in the big cities, but this time we chose some hotels that enjoy a dreamy location in the heart of nature, and offer, in addition to a green agenda, also amazing design and lots of indulgences.

Finca Rosa Blanca Inn, Alajuela, Costa Rica

Even in a country that has engraved green tourism on its flag, it is no small matter to win five green leaves - the highest rating given to places that insist on sustainable tourism. Located in the heart of a green valley coffee plantation in central Costa Rica, a short drive from San Jose Airport, the Finca Rosa Blanca Inn has rightly earned this title.

The hotel adheres to green principles, from panels of solar energy, through substrates made of bamboo fibers to the production of compost from organic waste. And if that's not enough, all the staff at the hotel are from the surrounding villages and the hotel makes sure to contribute to the schools and the local community. The hotel also has a coffee farm, and the pulp that remains from the coffee production process becomes fertilizer. Beyond all this, this is a boutique hotel where 13 rooms are decorated with Jacuzzi, minibar and windows overlooking the green landscapes of the valley, alongside many elements from nature. The hotel complex has tropical gardens with 300 fruit trees, a beautiful pool with chemical-free spring water, a spa and a gourmet restaurant where the vegetables and herbs served are grown in the hotel's organic greenhouse.

Hotelito Desconocido, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

As befits a hotel located in the heart of a nature reserve with 150 species of birds, nature and its preservation are an integral part of the hotel's accommodation. This is the place to leave far behind the pressures of modern life - no phones, TVs and electronic devices, the ceiling fans are powered by solar energy, and when you want breakfast to arrive at the cabin all you have to do is wave a red flag.
